Evaluations
A thorough evaluation is the first step toward understanding how to best support your child’s communication. Whether you’re just starting to notice something or have been wondering for a while, my evaluations are designed to give you meaningful answers — and a clear path forward.
Comprehensive Speech and Language Evaluation
This in-depth assessment looks at all areas of communication: how your child understands language (receptive), how they express themselves (expressive), how they produce speech sounds (articulation), how they process what they hear, and their overall developmental profile. It’s a great fit for families who want a full picture of their child’s communication strengths and challenges.
Speech Sound Production Evaluation
If your main concern is how your child is saying certain sounds — not their understanding or use of language — this focused evaluation zeroes in on speech clarity. I’ll identify any articulation errors and assess your child’s sound repertoire to help you understand what’s typical, what might need support, and what next steps can look like.
Telehealth
Telehealth wasn’t something any of us expected — but it quickly became something I came to believe in. Like many providers, I shifted to virtual sessions during the COVID pandemic with some hesitation. But I was amazed to see my patients continue to grow — and in some cases, make even faster progress. That experience sparked my passion for learning more. I dove into specialized training and the research behind telehealth, and what I found was clear: when guided by a skilled provider, virtual therapy can be just as effective — and sometimes even more so — than in-person care.
Today, telehealth is one of the ways I make high-quality, personalized speech therapy more accessible. Whether your family lives outside the Nashville area, juggles a busy schedule, or prefers the comfort of home, you don’t have to sacrifice excellent care. I’d love to talk with you about whether virtual services with Alley Speech might be the right fit for your child and family. More information on telehealth can be found in FAQ’s.

Articulation
Clear speech opens doors — in friendships, in the classroom, and in everyday connection. Articulation therapy can help children and adults who have trouble being understood, whether it’s just a few tricky sounds or broader speech clarity concerns. One of my greatest joys as a therapist is figuring out the small changes in movement that make a big difference, and helping kids stay motivated through playful, engaging practice.
If you or your child are finding that certain sounds are hard to say — or hard for others to understand — I’d love to support you with a fun, focused approach to building clearer, more confident speech.
Hearing
My journey into speech-language pathology began with a deep love for hearing science. After one college audiology class, I was hooked — and that passion led me to a graduate training grant focused on identifying and supporting hearing loss, followed by 11 wonderful years at Vanderbilt’s National Center for Childhood Deafness and Family Communication. I’m trained in both Auditory-Verbal techniques and American Sign Language, and I believe deeply in partnering with families to find the communication approach that fits your values and your child’s unique needs.
Whether your child uses hearing aids, cochlear implants, bone-anchored devices — or no devices at all — I bring both clinical expertise and heartfelt support to our work together. I’m here to offer thoughtful guidance, hands-on strategies, and a space where your family’s voice is always respected. If your child has a hearing difference, I’d be honored to walk alongside you — from diagnosis through every step of your journey.

Apraxia
Apraxia and other motor speech disorders require a thoughtful, individualized approach. Since 2018, I’ve pursued specialized training in this area, learning from multiple evidence-based methods so I can create tailored therapy plans for each child. When you work with me, you can expect a collaborative process — one that includes hands-on parent coaching, fun and focused practice, and a clear plan for building the strong brain-to-mouth connections your child needs to speak more clearly and confidently. You’re not just getting therapy sessions — you’re gaining a partner in your child’s communication journey.
Receptive and Expressive Language
Language is how we connect — through stories, questions, jokes, and everyday moments. If your child is having a hard time understanding what others say, using enough words to express themselves, or both, language therapy can help them grow in confidence and connection. Whether the challenge is tied to a developmental delay, hearing loss, a learning difference, a previous speech sound delay, or no known cause at all, I bring both expertise and creativity to every session.
I truly believe that every child can learn to communicate in their own way. Together, we’ll build language skills that help your child share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas — not just with familiar people, but with the wider world. And along the way, we’ll make the process fun, engaging, and full of small wins worth celebrating.

Adults
Adjusting to a cochlear implant is a powerful journey — and having the right support can make all the difference. Whether you’re newly implanted or have recently been re-implanted, aural rehabilitation can help you build stronger listening skills and make the most of your device. This therapy is designed for older teens and adults who want to improve how they understand the world through sound.
We’ll start with an evaluation to get a clear picture of how you’re currently hearing with your implant(s), then move step-by-step through a structured but personalized program. You’ll receive meaningful practice tools to use between sessions and expert guidance each time we meet. Together, we’ll work through the auditory hierarchy — from simply noticing sounds to fully understanding them in real-life situations — so that listening becomes easier, more natural, and more rewarding. This type of therapy adjust particularly well to a telehealth model.

Social Skills
Often a language or auditory delay, even one that has resolved through development or speech therapy, can lead to difficulties in the use of social language. When we have to use so much of our energy and focus on the mechanics of speech and language, or we have to listen harder than the people around us to figure out what was said, sometimes we don’t have enough left over to pick up on subtle social cues and we can be left feeling socially drained or anxious. I offer targeted therapy addressing these difficulties with social language and social skills — things like body language, entering group conversations, understanding nonliteral language, and more. This can be helpful for someone with hearing loss, auditory processing disorder, a former or current articulation or language delay, or Autism Spectrum Disorder.
